Your San Miguel de Allende (SMA) to Ajijic-Chapala Connection

If you are in, or going to SMA and are interested in Mexico (or another South/Central American Country) as an Investment or for Retirement, take a couple of days and explore “a lesser known part of Mexico”: Ajijic and the Lake Chapala area. It is about 30 minutes south of Guadalajara at an altitude of 5200 feet- one of the reasons for having the best weather in the Americas, and why it is home to about 10,000 +, Americans, Canadians and other foreigners.

A beautiful mixture of Colonial and modern, Guadalajara is Mexico’s second largest city, “the City of Roses” and is only a 4 hour (1st. class) bus ride from San Miguel de Allende for between $ 30 and $40 USD. Once here, you are also 4 hours closer to the famous Pacific Coastal resort areas such as PV and Manzanillo.

Ajijic and Chapala are 2 of the more prominent Villages that make up “Lakeside”. Village living, but close to a major city and its major airport.

To get a preview of activities and fun that are easily accessible to Lakeside villagers just click on the link below:

If you would like to explore this area, we will pick you up at the modern bus station or airport, assist you with accommodations, show you the area and return you to your point of departure. This is a no obligation, no pressure opportunity for you to investigate a none touristy area of Mexico, where most people arrive to live, vs come for a one or two week holiday.

Many other area Blogs, some with videos are also on our web site.

For more information and why so many foreigners choose to call this home- either full time or part time by all means, email or call (on our toll free #) for more details and answers to your questions.

Sincerely, Don and Linda Wright,
Residents of Lakeside for 16+ years
